DANBY CASTLE WEDDING - RACHEL AND ANDREW
As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, Danby Castle is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. In fact, I love it so much that I had my own Danby Castle wedding nearly ten years ago and have been returning ever since. Danby Castle - A wedding like no other
Recently, Rachel and Andrew booked me to be their Danby Castle wedding photographer, and I was thrilled with their plans from the very start. The couple had some unique and exciting ideas for their big day, and their enthusiasm was infectious. As a wedding photographer, I always love to see the creativity and individuality that couples bring to their celebrations.
For Rachel and Andrew, the most important thing was to simply enjoy their wedding day at Danby Castle without any unnecessary fuss or gimmicks. They wanted to incorporate the things they loved most, including Andrew's favourite colours of blue, white, and yellow, their mutual love for the Royal Family (Jim Royal, not Charles Royal), and their shared obsession with Christmas.
Even though their wedding took place in June, Rachel and Andrew were determined to bring some Christmas cheer to their celebration. They surprised their guests with a visit from Santa Claus and a Christmas band that got everyone up and dancing. It was a first for me as a wedding photographer, but it was a hilarious and unforgettable experience.
As part of the more traditional aspects of the wedding day, I photographed Rachel and her wedding party in the picturesque village of Danby, surrounded by stunning views of the Esk Valley. It's moments like these that make my job as a North Yorkshire wedding photographer so fulfilling.
After capturing photos of Andrew and his best man in the ruins at Danby Castle, I headed over to the farmhouse to meet up with Rachel and prepare for the ceremony. The addition of a getting-ready room in the old farmhouse was a fantastic idea and a great convenience for brides who don't want to travel on the morning of their wedding.
One of my favourite parts of Danby Castle is the jury room, one of the oldest areas of the Castle and a nostalgic spot for me as I remember watching my own wife walk down the aisle there. Later in the evening, I took Rachel and Andrew for a portrait session, where I strive to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere that puts couples at ease in front of the camera.
The great thing about Danby Castle is its location. Danby Castle has surrounded by beautiful moorland in all directions and as a Danby Castle photographer, I think it is really important to showcase that. It is one of the reasons I love coming back to Danby Castle so much.
Rachel and Andrew's wedding at Danby Castle was a memorable and personalised celebration that truly reflected their personalities and love for each other.
