Its become the tradition over the last few years that my final wedding of each season seems to be at the beautiful Raven Hall hotel.
As someone who's had the pleasure of working at Raven Hall Hotel in North Yorkshire, let me tell you - it's a wedding venue that's truly one-of-a-kind.

One of my favourite things about Raven Hall is the sense of tranquillity that envelops the entire place. There's just something so calming about being surrounded by nature and taking in the fresh air. It's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And as someone who's worked with plenty of wedding venues, let me tell you - that's a rare find.
It has become almost another tradition that before I start doing any work, I take a few moments to soak up the views. I find it relaxing and almost spiritual to look down at the waves lapping up against the mighty cliffs of North Yorkshire.

With a civil licence, Raven Hall Hotel allows for both the wedding ceremony and reception to occur at one location. Depending on the size of your wedding ceremony, you can choose from several rooms, including the Great Hall or the Viking Suite. Additionally, the Good Hope Chapel is available for an additional blessing service if desired.

Leah and Dirk
Let me share a little story about Leah and Dirk - a couple whose love story is as unique as it is heartwarming. I first met them a few months before their big day, when we decided to do their engagement photoshoot on a beautiful sunny summer's evening. As we strolled along, I couldn't help but ask them about how they met, how they fell in love, and what their journey has been like so far.
That's when I learned about the time Dirk repaired Leah's mini after someone had walked over it. It was a chance encounter that led to something truly beautiful. As Leah shared her story with me, I could see the love and admiration she had for Dirk shining in her eyes. She had a massive crush on him, and it was clear that he was the missing piece she'd been searching for.
As we chatted, they told me about the time they'd bumped into each other at a Halloween fancy dress party.
As a photographer, I always try to connect with my clients and get to know their story. It's important to me that they feel comfortable and at ease with me, so that I can capture their true essence in each photo. I believe that when couples trust their photographer and allow themselves to open up, their emotions shine through in every shot. It's what makes each photo so special, and what makes me love my job even more.
The wedding day
Let me tell you about Leah and Dirk's wedding day at Raven Hall - it was one for the books! When I arrived on the morning of their big day, I couldn't help but take a few moments to soak up the breathtaking views of the cliffs and the crashing waves below. Even though it was a bitterly cold winter's day, the beauty of the surroundings warmed my heart.
I caught up with Leah and her wedding party in one of the lodges that overlooked the bay below. The atmosphere was so relaxed and joyful, with plenty of laughter and the whisper of stories from her past being passed around the room. It was clear to me that Leah was just as calm and collected as I thought she'd be. Her energy was infectious and it made me even more excited to capture her special day.
As for Dirk and his groomsmen, there was a bit more nervous tension in the air when I caught up with them. Despite the jitters, there was still plenty of laughter and good vibes to go around. I had a blast capturing candid moments of Dirk and his groomsmen trying to figure out how to tie their ties before they were ready to head off.
All in all, Leah and Dirk's wedding day was filled with so much love, joy, and laughter. It was an honour to be there to capture their special moments and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this wonderful couple.
The I Do’s
Once Leah was ready, she made her way from her Lodge to the Grand Hall, and let me tell you - the walk was worth it! The short walk up to the main hotel was made all the more special by the breathtaking views that surrounded us. I couldn't help but snap a few photos of Leah along the way, with the stunning scenery as the perfect backdrop.
The ceremony took place in the Grand Hall, and what a beautiful setting it was. As Leah and Dirk exchanged their vows, the room was filled with so much love and laughter. It was a privilege to capture such precious moments between them, and I couldn't help but feel emotional as I witnessed their love story unfold before my eyes.
Looking at Leah and Dirk, you could tell just how much they mean to each other. It was an honour to be there to capture their special day and to help them preserve these precious memories forever. Speeches and the Photos
After capturing some candid photos at Raven Hall, Leah, Dirk, and I headed outside to take some portrait photos with the stunning views of Robin Hood's Bay in the background. It was an incredible location for a photoshoot, and I couldn't wait to get started.
For me, taking just 10 minutes out of the day to capture these photos is so important. Not only do they make for beautiful memories, but they also give the bride and groom a chance to take a step back and reflect on the commitment they've made to each other. Watching Leah and Dirk soak up the moment was a truly special experience and one that I'll always cherish.
Back inside, the speeches were incredible. It was clear just how loved Leah and Dirk are by their friends and family, and it was an honour to be there to capture those precious moments for them to cherish forever.
