Runa Farm Wedding - Joe and Naomi

The wedding season had truly begun, and Joe and Naomi's celebration was the perfect way to kick it off. They chose the picturesque Runa Farm in County Durham as the backdrop for their big day.

On that beautiful March day, it almost felt like spring had arrived, with only a few clouds in the sky and a gentle, warm breeze sweeping over the venue.

Joe and Naomi's wedding marked the union of two families separated by thousands of miles of ocean. Naomi's family had travelled from California the week before to celebrate with the happy couple.

Although Joe worked in Reading, his family still lived close by, which is why the couple decided to tie the knot at Runa Farm. During a three-way Zoom call a few weeks prior, I learned that Naomi had trusted Joe to choose the venue without her being there. This level of trust truly set them apart from most couples.

On the afternoon of their wedding day, I arrived to find Naomi getting into her dress and a nervous Joe welcoming guests into Runa Farm.

After spending the next hour catching up with guests and taking photos of the venue, it was time for the most important part of the day.

Once Mike, the father of the bride, had shared a few precious moments with his daughter, he escorted her down the aisle. At the other end, Joe struggled to keep his composure, but when he saw his stunning bride approaching, tears started to flow.

The ceremony was both beautiful and meaningful, made even more special by the couple's personal vows to each other. By this point, there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds had a few moments to themselves, taking in the magnitude of their commitment. They then re-entered the room to thunderous applause and cheers from their guests, an ideal time to capture some candid photos.

The couple had decorated Runa Farm exquisitely, demonstrating how the venue's inherent charm didn't require extravagant embellishments.

Once the formal group photos were completed, we enjoyed emotional and hilarious speeches from Joe, his best man, the father of the bride, and the maid of honor. More tears were shed during these heartfelt moments.

As the day progressed, we found breaks in the clouds, perfect for capturing stunning sunset photos. What I loved most about these sessions was the opportunity for Naomi and Joe to reveal their true personalities. Their down-to-earth and humorous nature made photographing them a delight.

With guests checked in and settled, I had some time to explore Runa Farm further. This venue truly had a wealth of offerings for wedding photography.

After the room had been rearranged, it was time for the couple's first dance—a joyous yet emotional moment. Joe and Naomi had met at a summer camp in upstate New York, starting as coworkers before growing closer and eventually falling in love. Despite the vast distance between them, their relationship flourished, which became clear to anyone who spent even a few minutes in their company.

As the night wore on, I spent my remaining time capturing guests enjoying themselves on the dance floor, chatting, and getting to know one another. It was a heartwarming sight to see two cultures come together in celebration of such a special occasion.

Photographing Naomi and Joe's wedding at Runa Farm was a joy, and I eagerly anticipate returning this summer. If you're planning a Runa Farm wedding, please get in touch—I'd be honoured to help tell your story.

To Naomi and Joe, congratulations on your beautiful journey together. I'm confident that your life as a married couple will be filled with love and happiness.
